The Jamestown Public School Board made the right decision when it chose to keep its current facility rental policy.
The policy was criticized recently after a local pastor said allowing religious-affiliated groups to rent the facility within school hours was improper.
The policy allows any group to rent JPS facilities so long as the event doesn’t interrupt instruction or promote illegal activity.
Whether purchasing or renting, finding a place to live in Jamestown is becoming an increasingly difficult task as many potential properties are filled up.
Rosalie Wibstad, a realtor with Century 21 Heritage Realty, said the inventory numbers are down but sales have been strong.
Carol Henne, a renter for as long as she could remember, was one of three parties looking at a four-plex at 454 Fourth Street S.W., Monday morning.
For two weeks she has been looking for a place to live for herself, her adult son, Matt, and her dog, Toby. She has had little luck.
Earthen dikes and sandbags blocked off the home that Henne viewed Monday, making it too difficult to move all of her belongings into it. She said she chose not to rent the home.
