On June 4, the North Dakota Department of Transportation will begin a maintenance project on the Sheyenne River Bridge west of Enderlin, N.D. During the project, N.D. Highway 46 will be closed for approximately 19 miles (from N.D. Highway 32 west of Enderlin west to N.D. Highway 1).
A federal funding bill that limits highway appropriations to the chronically flooded Devils Lake Basin to $100 million annually could delay the completion of major highway construction projects or postpone other road projects.

The Medina rest area on westbound Interstate 94 is now open. The rest area had been initially closed in May due to water over the entrance ramp and remained closed to facilitate construction on Interstate 94, according to the North Dakota Department of Transportation.
Business Loop East is open to public traffic, according to Patrick Hockett, project manager for Sellin Brothers Inc. The intersections at 13th Avenue Southeast and 12th Street Southeast remain closed to finish tying street patches together.
A public information meeting on proposed improvements to N.D. Highway 46 near Gackle, N.D., is planned for next month.
The meeting will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 15 at the Gackle Senior Center, 316 Main St., Gackle. The meeting will utilize an open house format with a formal presentation at 5:30 p.m.
One of the fallouts of a long, relatively dry autumn is that road projects don’t shut down. Good weather extends the construction season, and any driver who’s tried to negotiate Fargo, Moorhead and West Fargo streets understands the dynamic.
Reserves in the Stutsman County funds dedicated to road construction and maintenance have dropped below $1 million, according to information presented at the Stutsman County Commission meeting Tuesday.
