Three Blue Jays remain alive at the Bismarck Rotary Tournament.
Jaden Horstad and Brent Mittleider have assured themselves of at least placing sixth, while Ryan Hillerud is guaranteed of a top eight finish at the Rotary, the toughest and largest high school wrestling tournament in the state.
Curt Sayler, the current chairman of the board for the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce, gave a brief review of some of the things the chamber does at last week’s Rotary meeting.
The chamber is a member-run organization. It receives no public, state or area funds. The Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce currently has more than 350 businesses in its membership.
Dr. Jacqueline Mangnall, department chair of the nursing program at Jamestown College, was introduced by Marty Richman at the Rotary meeting. Mangnall said Jamestown College has had a nursing program for about 60 years, and nearly 2,000 students have graduated during this period of time.
The April 27 Rotary meeting was presided over by President Tom Boerger. Doug Frohlich gave the invocation, Selmer Spitzer led the music, and Gail Martin collected numerous “Happy Dollars” for Rotary projects.
Shawn Ferry spoke on the possibility of a youth disc golf league at the Rotary meeting. This program would teach young students how to play the game. The primary goal is to work with middle school and grade school children starting as young as fifth grade through ninth grade and teach them how to play this unique game.
The April 13 meeting was presided over by Tom Boerger. Darrell Losing gave the invocation, Casey Stoudt and Bev Kennison led the music, and Harold Bensch collected numerous Happy Dollars for Rotary projects. Boerger reminded Rotary members about the April 18 brunch.
The March 30 Rotary meeting was held in the Nafus Center on the campus of Jamestown College. President Tom Boerger presided over the meeting, Dan Kunzman gave the invocation and Gary Riffe and Bev Kennison led the music.
The March 23 Rotary meeting was presided over by President Tom Boerger, Darrell Losing gave the invocation, music was done by Larry Hoffman and Bev Kennison, and Tim Ottmar collected numerous “Happy Dollars” for Rotary projects.
