Carrington re-works girls’ basketball schedule

Carrington High School’s girls’ basketball game originally scheduled on Jan. 14 against Cavalier has been cancelled. No make-up date for the game could be found between the two schools. The game was postponed due to bad weather.

Brewster: bring on tough sked

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — If Tim Brewster returns next season as Minnesota’s head coach, he’ll surely have earned his stay. His survival kit must include a how-to manual on beating the big boys. After the grand opening of TCF Bank Stadium last fall, the Gophers will give their new place a real breaking-in on Sept. 18 against Southern Cal. Though the Trojans were recently put on NCAA probation, they’re still a powerful squad. Then there’s Big Ten matchups at home with Penn State (Oct. 23), Ohio State (Oct. 30) and Iowa (Nov. 27), a tough trio of teams that each finished among the top nine teams in the nation in last season’s final Associated Press rankings.

Summer schedule starts at Immanuel

Summer worship services at Immanuel Lutheran Church have been changed to 9:30 a.m. Sundays, followed by coffee/tea in the fellowship hall. This time change continues through August. Holy Communion will be observed on the first and third Sundays of each month.

JHS baseball, track schedules altered

Jamestown High School’s baseball game at Dickinson scheduled for Thursday was postponed because of the cold, wet weather. The game was moved to May 14 in Dickinson. The poor weather also wiped out today’s Packer Relays in West Fargo. The Blue Jays were scheduled to have competed in the meet. No makeup date was announced.

Vikings open season at Super Bowl champs

Paging Mr. Favre, Mr. Brett Favre. The NFL didn’t do the Minnesota Vikings any favors when it released the schedule on Tuesday, perhaps making it even more imperative that Favre returns for a second season in purple.

JC baseball, softball schedules altered

Weather is once again messing with the schedules of the Jamestown College baseball and softball teams. The JC baseball team should at least get to play this weekend, however, just a day later. The Jimmies (7-3) will play doubleheaders in Midland Lutheran on Sunday and Monday in Fremont, Neb. The games were pushed back 1 day.

Blue Jay VB schedule change

There has been a change to the schedule for Jamestown at Devils Lake volleyball on Friday, Nov. 6. The freshmen games will being at 4:30 (‘A’) and 5:30 (‘B’) at the Devils Lake Middle School. The sophomores game will begin at 5 p.m. at Devils Lake High School, followed by the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.

Vikings: Schedule gets tougher

The NFL schedule makers served the Minnesota Vikings dessert before the main course this season. After wolfing down cupcakes like the Browns, Lions and Rams during the team’s first 5-0 start since 2003, the Vikings’ road gets measurably more difficult from here on out. They host the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, followed by road games at Pittsburgh and Green Bay before the bye week.

Immanuel sets fall schedule

Sunday marks the beginning of the fall worship schedule at Immanuel Lutheran Church with worship services changing to 10:30 a.m. Immanuel Lutheran, which is handicapped accessible, is located at 1403 Ninth Ave. S.E. next to Gardenette housing in southeast Jamestown. The public is invited to worship with the congregation. The Rev. Nels Lillejord is serving the Immanuel congregation as its interim pastor.

Wolves open at home against Nets Oct. 28

The Minnesota Timberwolves will open this season at home against the New Jersey Nets on Oct. 28. It’s the ninth straight year the Wolves will open at home. The NBA released the full schedule on Tuesday.

Wolves fined for leaking schedule

The NBA has fined three teams an undisclosed amount for leaking details of their schedules before the league released them. The Cleveland Cavaliers, Houston Rockets and Minnesota Timberwolves were penalized.

Airport proposes schedule change

Officials of the Jamestown Regional Airport will be proposing a schedule change during the upcoming negotiations for the Essential Air Service contract, according to a report made by Andrew Schneider, airport manager to the governing board during its regular June Meeting.
