Some services for low- and moderate-income people may come to end or be greatly curtailed as local agencies deal with shrinking budgets from federal cuts, according to local agency leaders who gathered for what was termed a Community Coalition meeting Wednesday.
The Rev. Ron Erickson is the guest speaker at a men’s retreat hosted by Victory Lutheran Church on March 13-14. He will speak to the men from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday. Erickson will then speak to both men and women during the Sunday school hour at 9:30 a.m. His topics include: The Life of Bondage! What does it mean to live under the rule of the law? The Life in the Spirit! What does it mean to be free in Christ? and The Life Worth Living! What does freedom look like in the home?
Grace Episcopal Church will be offering a special service and celebration of Saint Patrick at 5 p.m. Sunday. Also planned are Irish face painting for children at 4:30 p.m. and Irish food, music, and Irish step dancing lessons afterward. Learn about who Saint Patrick really was and celebrate Celtic and Irish culture at the same time.
The Jamestown Ministerial Association Lenten luncheon and services continue each Wednesday at different local churches. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. with worship service following from 12:20 to 12:50 p.m.
Innovis Health Jamestown is now providing additional specialty services at its clinic on a monthly basis.
New specialties include nephrology and pulmonology services, which have been added to its previous specialty service line which consists of orthopedics, ear, nose and throat, cardiology, neuropsychology and cancer care. All specialty services are offered on a monthly at Innovis Health Jamestown.
Now that business is back to normal, Civic Center/ Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Pam Fosse is focusing more on marketing what she and her staff offer the community.
Fosse has been speaking to local service groups about what the Civic Center does and what it can do. She said she discovered the services the Civic Center provides are virtually unknown to the community.
“Revive, Rejoice and Resurrect” is the theme of the Sunday morning worship Lenten series being conducted by First Congregational United Church of Christ of Jamestown and Zion United Church of Christ of Medina.
The series is based on the six choices that churches face in meeting today’s challenges of ministry in their communities.
During the holiday season many people travel back to North Dakota or to rural areas to visit loved ones. North Dakota Department of Human Services officials say that family gatherings provide an opportunity to visit with aging parents and other older relatives about their changing abilities and needs, and to plan for future care needs.
