We have lived across from Roosevelt Elementary School for 30 years, and I don’t remember a year when the snow has been so quickly and nicely plowed or removed as it has been this year. We want to commend all involved in snow removal for the quick and efficient way that snow has been dealt with, and it is certainly a year to be remembered!
In anticipation of the winter storm moving into the area, city crews will begin removing snow from the emergency snow routes beginning at 5 a.m. Saturday and, if necessary, continuing on to the residential areas at 11 a.m. Saturday.
The City Council’s Public Works Committee agreed Thursday to make a one-time payment to defray 2010 snow removal costs on Country Club Road and the Police and Fire Committee agreed to look for ways to rid Jamestown of encroaching deer.
Police Chief Dave Donegan said there have been five vehicle-deer crashes in Jamestown since January, primarily at the bottom of Mill Hill.
Snow removal and Jamestown’s “Strive for Five” movement have appeared lately in different stories but in truth, they should be addressed together. Both are issues that have an economic impact on our area.
