The fiber-lovers at the North Dakota Handspinners Conference could be called a close-knit group — they’re happy to show new people spinning techniques and they enjoy exchanging tips, bundles of wool and skeins of yarn.
The rhythmic sound of 15 spinning wheels filled the room in the Richardton Sacred Heart Monastery during a spinning workshop this month. Women focused on the task at hand to twist fiber into a continuous thread by drop spindle or spinning wheels. They visited quietly or asked questions of the instructor, but mostly, they focused on the lessons.
