Here are the upcoming events of St. Paul’s United Methodist Women:
St. Paul’s members are delivering Meals on Wheels for weekends in August. The sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board. Many have also been helping with ushering and greeting on Sunday morning.
Many of St. Paul’s United Methodist women will be involved in the 50th Anniversary Celebration at 10 a.m. Sunday at 1005 Fifth Ave. N.E. (note change of time) which is the anniversary of the groundbreaking of the present church. A potluck meal will be served at noon.
“The Spirit That Came to Many,” a CBS-TV News production broadcast in 1966 as the Methodist and Evangelical United Brethren churches were moving toward a merger that created the United Methodist Church, will be the program featured at St. Paul’s UMC annual birthday potluck dinner at noon Sunday.
The Rev. Arlyn Coalter has been assigned to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Jamestown, by Bishop Deborah Kiesey as its new pastor. Previously, Coalter served parishes at Arthur and Casselton. He has been a full-time pastor since 1993 and has served churches in North Dakota and South Dakota.
Coalter and his wife, Deb, have one son, Chris, who is stationed at Fort Riley, Kan. They have four grandchildren.
St. Paul’s congregation welcomes the Coalters to Jamestown and invites the community to all services.
The 23rd annual German Service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Pauls United Methodist church, Jamestown. The Rev. Clayton Scheaffer will be the speaker. There will be special music. There will be refreshments served.
The Mission Committee at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church will have a Swiss steak supper at 6 p.m. Oct. 22. The meal costs $10 per person and includes Swiss steaks simmered in gravy, mashed potatoes and gravy, cole slaw, rolls, bars and ice cream.
St. Paul’s United Methodist Church will begin training its third class of Stephen Ministers in October.
Stephen Ministers equip lay persons to provide one-on-one confidential Christian care to individuals in the congregation and community who are experiencing difficulties in their lives.
St. Paul’s United Methodist Women hosted the Three Rivers District UMW here last week.
Next year the group will be part of the Sakakawea District so a lot of its activities were geared toward that transition.
Another member of Sojourner’s Circle, Geneva Kamletz, died Sunday. Her funeral is at the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.
St. Paul’s United Methodist Women will have the program and bring cakes at 2 p.m. Sept. 16 for Ave Maria birthday party.
The Three Rivers District United Methodist spiritual retreat and annual meeting will be held at St. Paul’s on Sept. 17 and 18. The deadline to register is Sept. 10. Give registrations to Karen Aman or bring to the church office.
Members of St. Paul’s United Methodist Women have been helping prepare for Wacky Wednesday Summer Fun, which includes Bible stories, crafts, singing and other activities for children age 3 to grade 5.
These are held on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. July 14, 21 and 28 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. No registration needed.
St. Paul’s United Methodist Women reported that Love Ribbons were given to the women of the church for Mother’s Day.
Betty Brosz, Julie Wayne, Lavina Kleese, Bonnie Ostenson, and Delette Winkelman attended UMW Assembly in St. Louis, Mo., recently.
Many of the United Methodist Women are helping to deliver “Meals on Wheels” on the weekends of June, especially on June 27.
Many of UMW are helping with Bible school this week.
St. Paul’s Mission Committee will have a Swiss steak dinner at 6 p.m. April 23 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. The Rev. Reuben Gumm will show slides on his recent trip.
The public is invited to attend.
St. Paul’s United Methodist Women has several events of notice this month.
There are focus meetings at Marion on April 10 or April 17 at First United Methodist Church, Jamestown, for area United Methodist Women. Registration and refreshments are at 8:30 a.m. Register at the Jamestown church office.
On Wednesday, Mary Werner will tell her faith story at the church. The group will begin with a light supper at 6 p.m. in the church Fellowship Hall.
