Seventh-grader Nick Stockert led the Blue Jay boys’ golf team at the season-opening East-West Challenge over the weekend.
Stockert’s round of 90 at Village Green in Moorhead was the best round of any JHS golfer in the meet.
The inexperienced Blue Jays struggled as a team, which was not unexpected, finishing with a two-day total of 821, although they were seven shots better on Saturday (414-407).
As has been the case in recent years, numbers are the main dilemma for Jamestown High School boys’ hockey coach Matt Stockert.
Once again, they simply don’t have enough bodies. In fact when the Blue Jays open the season tonight in Devils Lake against the Firebirds, they’ll do so with just 22 skaters and three goalies. While quantity is a concern, there is some quality returning, making the early portion of the season somewhat of an erector set for the JHS coach.
