On Friday Omega Team students from the Jamestown Middle School were doing their part to educate the public about keeping urban runoff clean.
Groups of students hit the streets armed with brooms, stencils and paint to label storm drains with the message “KEEP IT CLEAN, DRAINS TO RIVER.”
In addition to the stencils, students gave out door hangers that provided suggestions ways to keep runoff clean.
On Monday, Jamestown Middle School students will spray paint “Keep it Clean – Drains to River” messages on storm drains in Jamestown, according to Jim Collins Jr., environmental scientist with the North Dakota Department of Health. The goal of the stenciling project is to remind residents of the importance of protecting water quality.
