As a June 8 election approaches, Stark and Billings counties could be inching closer to operating on Central Standard Time, but this isn’t the first time the subject has been brought to a vote.
A question of whether to make the switch from Mountain Standard Time to Central Standard Time will be presented before voters in the upcoming election.

Petitions to move Stark County from the Mountain time zone to Central are being circulated this week.
Dickinson Commissioner Shirley Dukart said she decided to pursue the time zone change after several people asked for it.
Mercer County will ask the federal government to switch it from Mountain time to Central time.
The County Commission voted to make the request to the federal Transportation Department, which has the final said on time zone changes.
