Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown, will celebrate its centennial with special weekend activities on Sept. 17-18.
The Sept. 17, events include a continental breakfast with tours of the facility from 9-11 a.m., and a social and celebration banquet beginning at 5:30 p.m. with featured speaker the Rev. Andrea DeGroot Nesdahl, a daughter of the congregation. Tickets are on sale at the church office through Sept. 4.
The Rev. Don Richman, a former associate pastor of Trinity Lutheran, 523 Fourth Ave. S.E., Jamestown, will be the guest pastor on Sunday. He will speak at the 8:30 and 10 a.m. services. There will be an opportunity for fellowship with him between services and at lunch after the second service for those who wish to join him at a downtown restaurant.
Karin Gunderson will perform “Heavenly Harp” at three different venues on Sunday.
She will play at the 8:30 a.m. worship service at Trinity Lutheran Church, 523 Fourth Ave. S.E., and a concert at 2 p.m. at Atonement Lutheran Church, 1009 12th Ave. N.E. She will also present a concert at 7 p.m. in St. John’s Lutheran Church, 424 First Ave. S., with fellowship and snacks to follow.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 523 Fourth Ave. S.E. This service is to remember loved ones. There will be a time for coffee and fellowship to follow. The public is welcome to attend.
Trinity Lutheran Church’s annual fall bazaar, planned from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 16, will feature baked goods, candy, Norwegian delicacies, plants, jellies, produce and white elephant items. Barbecues, pie, coffee and apple cider will be served for $5.
Proceeds, supplemented by Stutsman County Thrivent for Lutherans, help fund Trinity Women’s benevolences.
On Sunday at the 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. worship services at Trinity Lutheran Church, 523 Fourth Ave. S.E., Jamestown, the African Children’s Choir will present a concert filled with children’s songs, traditional African songs and dances and favorite gospel tunes. This is part of the group’s 25-year anniversary tour. A freewill offering will be taken to help provide education, care and emergency relief for more than 7,000 children throughout seven countries.
The men of Trinity Lutheran Church, along with much help from the women of Trinity, will be holding the 44th annual Lutefisk and Meatball Supper in the church fellowship hall from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. The meal will be served family style. In addition to the Norwegian lutefisk and Swedish meatballs, the meal will include potatoes and gravy, coleslaw, cranberries, buns, lefse, coffee and ice cream desert.
Trinity Lutheran women’s annual salad luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday and is open to the public. An assortment of fruit, vegetable, pasta, potato and seafood salads will be served along with rolls for $5. The profits will benefit Trinity women’s benevolences.
Trinity Lutheran Church will be celebrating Pentecost on Sunday, which is often called “the birthday of the Christian church.” Worship at 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. will be festivals of God’s promise, presence and power. This will serve as a kickoff for the start of Trinity’s 100th year of mission and ministry which first began in 1911.
