A recent commercial vehicle inspection done by the North Dakota Highway Patrol and Federal Motor Safety Administration found that one in four trucks driving in oil country had safety violations serious enough to put the vehicles out of service.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol, a construction company and health officials worked in tandem through most of Tuesday to clean up about 5,000 gallons of road oil, some of which spilled into a roadside ditch following a rollover accident Monday evening near Cavalier, N.D.

The Multi County Truck Regulatory Committee for Barnes, Stutsman, LaMoure and Dickey counties is off to a rough start after hiring its only staff person without input from the sheriffs of the four counties. A discussion of the hiring process took place at a regular meeting of the committee Thursday in Valley City.
Five people were charged Friday in connection to a fire that destroyed a Jamestown truck shop in February.
One of them was one of the business’ owners and three were employed there, according to the Troy LeFevre, assistant state’s attorney for Stutsman County.
A spokesperson at the Washington County, Minn., Sheriff’s Office said Monday morning that the name of the driver whose truck fell through ice on the St. Croix River Saturday morning at Hudson won’t be released until Tuesday.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office identified the driver as a 57-year-old Bayport, Minn., man.
The truck went through ice just north of the railroad swing bridge at about 3 a.m. Saturday.

The Jamestown Fire Department was paged back out to the repair shop at the S & R Truck Plaza in southeast Jamestown at 9:05 p.m. Monday.
The fire that caused extensive damage early Saturday morning apparently flared up Monday night.
