United Way beginning fundraising campaign with a party
Without its support, one charitable organization in Jamestown said many groups in the area would go without. That’s why the United Way in Jamestown’s goal is to raise $185,000 this year, and it’s trying different ways to achieve it.September 12, 2011
United Way close to goal for fundraising
Before its campaign closes for the year, United Way is making a final plea for donations. Short of its $185,000 goal by about $8,000, First Vice President Ben Shannon said he’s confident Jamestown can make the cut by the campaign’s Feb. 1 closing date.January 20, 2011
Support the United Way campaign
The Jamestown United Way and its 2010 campaign, “The Power of U,” is a worthy cause that should be locally supported. Two primary reasons for supporting the campaign are the number of groups helped and the fact that almost all of the money raised stays right here in the community.October 20, 2010
N.D. leads nation in United Way fundraising
North Dakota is a national leader when it comes to raising money for the United Way. The state leads the nation in percent increase of total dollars raised in 2009. It’s also one of only six states to increase giving over 2008. The others are South Dakota, Oklahoma, Washington D.C., New Mexico and Oregon. The nine United Ways in North Dakota collectively raised $8,959,554 in 2009. That’s a 4.5 percent in-crease over 2008.By By Tracy Frank, Forum Communications Co. , October 08, 2010

Economy reason for drop in United Way donations here
The economy is responsible for reductions in donations to the United Way, officials said Thursday. The United Way in Jamestown fell $30,000 short of the $205,000 goal in its last campaign. Although disappointed they didn’t make it, board members are pleased with what they did raise, said Karli Skjeret, president. “I think it’s just the economy and a lot of people are tightening up,” she said.April 02, 2010

United Way held the kickoff for its 2009 campaign called “Take a Stand, Lend a Hand” in September. Its goal this year is $205,000 — a $5,000 increase from its $200,000 goal in 2008. The deadline for donations was Dec. 31.February 09, 2010
What we think: Contribute to the United Way campaign
Many charities need help in Jamestown this holiday season. Instead of picking just one or two to donate to, help the United Way so it can spread that help as far as possible. The United Way donates to 21 area organizations ranging from the James River Humane Society to the Arts After School program. All of the groups United Way helps are groups that improve life in Jamestown for people of all ages throughout the year.By Sun Staff , December 11, 2009
Wells Fargo pledges $75,000
Wells Fargo & Company has announced that its team members pledged $75,000 to North Dakota nonprofit organizations and schools through its annual Community Support and United Way Campaign, a 20 percent increase over pledges made by team members in 2008. These donations are in addition to the $50,000 gift Wells Fargo made to the United Way of Cass-Clay and the American Red Cross earlier this year to support disaster relief and recovery following the historic flooding of the Red River in Fargo-Moorhead. This was also the company’s most “green” campaign to date with nearly 100 percent of all pledges made online and the elimination of nearly all print marketing materials.November 25, 2009
