North Dakota electric customers may have to pay $14.5 million over three years to cover two utilities’ development costs for an abandoned power plant project, regulatory filings show. The proposals, which North Dakota’s Public Service Commission will consider next week, will cost Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. residential customers about $19 annually, the filings say. North Dakota utilities continue working to restore power to customers who lost electricity after last weekend’s snow storm that knocked down power lines. Thousands of North Dakota residents were without power Sunday after a storm brought down miles of transmission lines, and utility officials say it could be a week or more before service is restored. North Dakota regulators have delayed a decision on an Otter Tail Power Co. electric rate settlement so they can look more closely at a proposed economic development fund. SUV strikes utility pole
Police are looking for the driver who left the scene of an accident Saturday. At 3:04 a.m. Saturday a 1997 blue GMC Yukon registered to Hilda Cruz, Carrizo springs, Texas, struck a utility pole in the alley between Eighth and Ninth Avenue Southeast in the 300 block. A witness told police he heard the crash and saw two unknown men walking around the SUV, then leaving the scene.June 25, 2008
