A Fargo judge ruled last week that the state’s ban on synthetic marijuana and chemicals that mimic methamphetamines was bogus because the North Dakota Board of Pharmacy didn’t get the word out.
Cass County District Court Judge Wickham Corwin missed that call.
Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring has presented the 2010 Weed Control Partners Awards to Diane Allmendinger, Dodge, and Ron Manson, Sanborn.
Allmendinger is weed officer for Stark and Dunn counties; Manson is Stutsman County weed officer.
The state Agriculture Department is holding a public hearing on possible changes to North Dakota’s state noxious weeds list.
The hearing is 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Best Western Seven Seas Hotel in Mandan.
North Dakota weed control officials say absinth wormwood appears to be spreading.
Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring said there are more reports of large infestations of the weed, particularly in the western part of the state. He said there also have been reports of some retail garden suppliers selling the flowering weed.
A proposed statewide system to certify hay and gravel as being free of weeds no longer includes rock products.
Lawmakers stripped the gravel pit provision from the bill after construction industry officials questioned whether it was necessary and was a step toward stricter requirements.
