CHICAGO (AP) — Slugging first baseman Adam Dunn has agreed to join the Chicago White Sox for a four-year, $56 million contract, a person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press on Thursday.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal has not been officially announced. If Dunn passes a physical, he could be introduced Friday at a news conference.

Gordon Beckham had a home run and two RBIs and John Danks recovered from his worst inning of the season to help the White Sox win their ninth game in a row, 8-7 over Twins on Thursday night.
White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen told veteran slugger Jim Thome he won’t be asked to rejoin the team as a designated hitter.
Thome, who played three-plus seasons with the White Sox before he was traded to the Dodgers on Aug. 31, was interested in returning to Chicago.
General manager Ken Williams gave Guillen the final call on the move, and Guillen decided he couldn’t give Thome enough at-bats to justify bringing him back.
BOSTON (AP) — In a swap of outfielders, the Boston Red Sox traded Mark Kotsay and cash to the Chicago White Sox for Brian Anderson on Tuesday.
The Red Sox are second in the AL East, and designated the 33-year-old Kotsay for assignment last week. The White Sox are second in the AL Central and sent the 27-year-old Anderson to Triple-A last week.
The 105th pitch of Mark Buehrle’s day broke in toward Gabe Kapler, who turned on it and connected. Buehrle looked up and knew — his perfect game was in jeopardy.

Paul Konerko hit a career-high three home runs, including a go-ahead grand slam in the sixth inning, to lead the Chicago White Sox to a 10-6 victory over the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday night.
Konerko, who drove in a career-high seven RBIs, became the 12th player in White Sox history to hit three homers in a game.
