Jamestown residents among injured in crash that kills woman

A crash involving five vehicles just after midnight Thursday near the Buffalo, N.D., interchange on Interstate 94 killed a Bismarck woman and injured seven people, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol. Two Jamestown residents were among those injured.

Young speaks at museum’s Front Porch Chat On Sunday, Mary Young spoke to a large audience in the front porch of the Stutsman County Memorial Museum at the most recent Front Porch Chat. Young spoke of the rivalry between two lady reporters of local newspapers which began in the 1920s. Eva Plunkett, Young’s aunt, began her career as a writer for the Jamestown Alert in 1908 when she was hired by W.R. Kellogg as an AP writer and left in 1925 when the Alert became the Jamestown Sun.

Twins, Young agree on one-year contract

Delmon Young and the Minnesota Twins have agreed to terms on a $1,152,000, one-year contract. Young gets a raise from the $700,000 he made last season, but his salary is technically being cut the maximum allowable 20 percent when the final prorated share of his initial $3.7 million signing bonus ($770,000) is factored in.
