Terror arrest in Idaho: Man accused of working with terror group and trying to use weapon of mass destruction

Federal authorities in Idaho said Thursday they have arrested an Uzbekistan national accused of conspiring with a designated terrorist organization in his home country and helping scheme to use a weapon of mass destruction.

The prosecution set out its case Thursday in Southeast District Court against a Jamestown woman accused of delivering a potent prescription painkiller. Lori Ella Houge, born in 1961 and from Jamestown, was charged with delivery of a controlled substance, a Class A felony. She is accused of delivering fentanyl patches on or about March 3, 2012, to Tim Partlow. Houge pleaded not guilty.

Ben Walz provided the kind of timely hitting needed to beat Bismarck Century on Thursday. The offense was mostly stagnant, but it was Walz’ two-run double in the second inning that lifted the Jamestown High School baseball team to a 4-2 victory in West Region action at Jack Brown Stadium. If that wasn’t enough, Walz drilled a two-run single up the middle to lift the Blue Jays 2-1 in the nightcap.

The conditions at McElroy Park on Thursday weren’t exactly ideal, and a lack of consistency again hurt the Jamestown Blue Jay softball team. Bismarck High eighth-grader Jaime Barta took the circle in both West Region contests as rain spit from the sky. Barta picked up 21 strikeouts in all, leading the Demons to a 7-1 and 15-6 sweep over the Blue Jays.
