Sewer work: Project begins July 8

Jamestown’s long-awaited sewer project starts July 8 and residents can expect some inconveniences as streets are torn up. The sanitary sewer system construction will start in the 300, 400 and 500 blocks of Third Avenue Northwest, said Darrell Hournbuckle, project engineer for Interstate Engineering. On July 8, residents will see the equipment preparation, and probably some removing of asphalt, Hournbuckle said.

Library to seek funding

Public funding options will be sought for building a new library in Jamestown. The James River Valley Library System Library Board voted unanimously Wednesday to seek legal and financial counsel about raising public funds for a new library.

JRAA hangar plan moves forward a bit

The Jamestown Regional Airport Authority approved a contract Wednesday with Interstate Engineering to design a new hangar building. At its regular meeting Wednesday the board reviewed revised plans for the proposed hangar, which would house anywhere from 8 to 12 bays for commercial and general aviation airplanes. The board has worked with a proposed 12-bay hangar design based on a hangar built in Mandan, N.D., that had an estimated cost of $770,000, including a fire suppression system.
