Comedy tour set to help Prairie Paws

Prairie Paws Rescue of Jamestown is raising funds to purchase a new van.

The animal rescue operation’s current van, used to transport dogs and cats in need of help all over the state of North Dakota and sometimes further, currently has no heat and its electrical system doesn’t work.

“We need a van,” said Kaye John, Prairie Paws co-founder, explaining that the van would have to be able to haul about one to 20 dogs.

To raise money for a new van, the standup Raising the Woof Comedy Tour has been slated for Feb. 28, with doors opening at 7 p.m. and the show starting at 8 p.m. at Shady’s in the Gladstone Inn & Suites.

Tickets for the age 21-plus show are $10 each in advance or $15 the day of the show, and they are available at veterinary clinics in the area, R.M. Stoudt, Big Dog Country or from Prairie Paws Rescue volunteers.

The comedy show only performs for shelter fundraising.

Prairie Paws is also looking for sponsorships for the event, which would be $100 each and would include two tickets to the show.
