JC grad hired at Light of Christ Catholic Schools of Excellence

A Jamestown College graduate has been named associate director of advancement and development for Light of Christ Catholic Schools of Excellence in Bismarck.

Gwen Beckler, who earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Jamestown College and her master’s degree in strategic leadership from the University of Mary, is also a graduate of St. Mary’s Central High School, Bismarck.

She was hired as the LOCCSE development director in 2008 and currently manages all fundraising, marketing and recruiting efforts. She will begin her new duties full time Jan. 1.

Gerald Vetter was named director of advancement and development for the school. Vetter has 24 years of experience as a teacher, state champion basketball coach and assistant principal. He received a master’s degree from North Dakota State University and has worked at SMCHS since 1991.

“Gerald and Gwen are well-equipped to help lead the exciting growth that is taking place in our Catholic school system in Bismarck,” said Bishop of Bismarck David Kagan, president of LOCSSE’s board of directors.

LOCCSE is completing a feasibility study that will guide the system’s plans for future growth. After results are announced, Vetter and Beckler will coordinate a capital campaign to accomplish the goals outlined.
