Rosemary McDougall, chair of the Mission & Outreach Committee at First United Methodist Church of Jamestown, recently presented a carload of paper, personal and household items to Lynne Tally, executive director of Safe Shelter in Jamestown.

“The Mission & Outreach Committee sets up a Giving Tree each December and our church family is encouraged to collect items for various organizations and needs around the community. One of the places we like to support is Safe Shelter,” McDougall said.

In addition to collected items, FUMC also donates $4,000 a year to Safe Shelter to assist in its programming.

Safe Shelter services include a 24-hour crisis line, temporary emergency shelter, crisis intervention, follow-up services, support groups, emergency financial assistance, relocation assistance, advocacy programming, information and referral services, and prevention education for middle school, high school and college students and for the general public.
