Koch wins geographic bee
Quinn Koch, a fourth-grade student, won the third annual Jamestown Area Homeschool Association Geographic Bee held on Jan. 7. The local bee, at which students answered oral questions on geography, was the first round in the 26th annual National Geographic Bee.
The second phase for Koch will be a written test. North Dakota students who score in the top 100 on the written test will compete in Bismarck on April 4.
State champions will compete in Washington, D.C., in May. Students and their teacher/escorts will receive an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., provided by The National Geographic Society. The first-place national winner will receive a $50,000 college scholarship.
