Century defeats Jamestown for Class A volleyball crown

Tour of maternity home, monastery and church offered

On Sept. 15, St. James Tabernacle Society of Jamestown will sponsor a one-day tour of St. Gianna Maternity Home and the Franciscan of Mary Immaculate Monastery, Warsaw, as well as St. John Nepomucene's Catholic Church in Pisek, N.D. Women, men, and families are welcome.

The Maternity Home is for mothers and mothers-to-be who need assistance during their pregnancy and afterward. Housing, family life, education, spiritual and medical care are provided without cost to those in need. Care may last from early pregnancy until the mother is ready to begin her new life. Mothers with other children may bring them to the maternity home.

The Franciscans of Mary Immaculate is the newest monastery in the Diocese of Fargo. Tour participants will have an opportunity to learn of Franciscan spirituality and experience prayer with the brothers.

St. John Nepomucene's Catholic Church, Pisek, is home to a world famous portrait of Sts. Cyril and Methodius, creators of the Cyrillic alphabet. It is the only original of the artist's work outside of the Czech Republic.

The tour is open to the first 51 people with paid registration of $15. It leaves at 8 a.m. from St. James Basilica parking lot, Jamestown, and returns after evening meal at about 8:30 pm. The cost of the motor coach will be covered by St. James Tabernacle Society with the $15 going toward noon meal and other expenses. No one will be denied the opportunity to attend based on inability to pay.
