Century defeats Jamestown for Class A volleyball crown

ELCA Jamestown cluster gathering set

“Valuing the Vulnerable; Reflecting God’s Love” is the theme of the Jamestown cluster gathering for all women of the ELCA to be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Saturday, May 6, with registration and coffee hour, hosted by Atonement Lutheran, beginning at 9 a.m. Reservations for the $5 noon lunch should be sent to Myrna Ronholm, 501 8th St. SW, Jamestown, ND 58401.

In-kind donations of feminine hygiene products will be accepted to distribute locally to women in need.

Multiple situations will be presented for applying the admonition in Micah 6:8, the theme verse, to “do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with your God.”

The Rev. Susan Haukaas will open with devotions at 9:30 a.m. After a short business meeting, Pastor Mytch Dorvilier will report on the Eastern North Dakota Synod’s multi-ethnic mission which she leads, followed by Elissa Rosin giving a brief introduction to the Orphan Grain Train, headquartered in Jamestown. Haukaas will lead a Bible study, “Social Justice, A Christian Imperative.”

Three activity choices will follow the noon lunch: stretching exercises with Nici Flann, bandage wrapping for Global Health Ministries with Dianne Billey, chair of Synod Global Mission Committee, and silent reading.

Beginning at 1 p.m., Joan Halvorson, FBI victim specialist, will speak on human trafficking, and Adie Hobert, Anne Carlsen Center assistant director of education, will present the center’s current work and vision. A closing communion service will be led by Haukaas. The offering at this service will be divided between the synod women’s organization and the new Eastern North Dakota Synod’s multi-ethnic mission.
