FCCU to collect items for food pantries

During each quarter of 2017, First Community Credit Union holds fundraisers for worthy organizations. The charities are voted on by employees.

The FCCU staff chose local food pantries to support during the third-quarter. FCCU will hold a food drive at each branch for staff, members and the community. Here are some suggested items the public can donate:

► Canned items such as soup, fruit, vegetables, tuna and beef stew.

► Boxed dinners such as macaroni and cheese and rice.

► Kid-friendly items such as granola bars, fruit snacks, raisins, graham crackers, fruit cups and pretzels.

► Peanut butter, jelly, mayonnaise, salad dressing and spaghetti sauce.

► Cold cereal, hot cereal mixes and breakfast bars.

► Non-food items such as paper products, soap, shampoo and toothpaste.

The items and funds collected will be donated to Salvation Army in Jamestown, Barnes County Food Pantry in Valley City, Great Plains Food Bank in Bismarck and Fargo, Kidder County Food Pantry in Steele, Mayport Food Bank in Portland, Logan County Food Pantry in Napoleon, Wishek Food Pantry in Wishek, Oakes Food Pantry in Oakes, Sargent County Food Pantry in Milnor and Richland County Food Pantry in Wahpeton and Hankinson.

FCCU will also create “The Community Cookbook” to raise additional funds. FCCU is working with local food pantries and will have recipe submission forms and order forms available at the FCCU branches and at food pantries.

Cookbooks are being presold for $10 each. Recipe submissions and cookbook orders must be placed by Friday, Aug. 4.

FCCU is encouraging financial donations for those who don’t want to donate items but would like to donate money and help support the cause.
