A total of 60 people volunteered to donate blood, and 41 able to give during University of Jamestown’s Oct. 2 blood drive. Nine people gave blood on the automated 2RBC machine that collects two units of red blood cells which resulted in 48 total products.
Twenty people volunteered to donate for the first time. Megan Bidwell coordinated the drive and the Nursing Students Association sponsored and assisted with recruiting donors, publicity and registering donors. Sodexo provided refreshments. Space to hold the drive was provided at the Reiland Fine Arts Center.
The blood collected at this drive will help meet the needs of patients in 68 hospitals served by United Blood Services in this region. To sign up to donate blood, go to www.unitedbloodservices.org.
