Guðjónsson to speak at Icelandic State Park on Oct. 8
Icelandic geologist Kristinn A. Guðjónsson will be at the Icelandic State Park and the Pioneer Heritage Center near Cavalier, N.D., on Friday, Oct. 8. He will show photos and give a presentation about volcanoes in Iceland, the recent eruption of Eyjafjallajökull and Iceland's unique geology.
Guðjónsson begins his three-week tour at the University of Toronto in Ontario and completes the tour at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Wash. The presentation at the Icelandic State Park is his only North Dakota appearance.
While in North Dakota, Guðjónsson will visit the Icelandic settlement areas and historic sites. The event is sponsored by the Icelandic National League of North America under its International Visits Program and is sponsored by the Icelandic Communities Association headquartered in Mountain. Sponsorship has also been provided by Icelandair.
The presentation will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Pioneer Heritage Center at Icelandic State Park. Everyone is welcome and admission is free. Limited seating is available. Coffee and refreshments will be provided by the Icelandic Communities Association.
