Neighborhood called endangered historic place

MINOT, N.D. (AP) -- A Minot neighborhood is being called North Dakota's most endangered historic place.

Eastwood Park was damaged by Souris River flooding last summer. The flood damaged more than 4,000 homes.

Eastwood Park was established in 1906. It covers about 12 blocks, and a magazine last year called it one of the best neighborhoods in the country for old houses. It's listed in the National Registry of Historic Places.

The Preservation North Dakota organization has identified Eastwood Park as the state's most endangered historic place because of the flood damage.

Mark Timbrook of Minot is secretary of the organization. Timbrook tells the Minot Daily News (that the designation makes Eastwood Park eligible for grants, and it could influence other organizations to donate or volunteer time for repairs.
