Jamestown’s newest hotel is now open for business.

Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott, a 108-room business and leisure hotel at 930 25th St. SW, just behind the Buffalo Mall, held a soft opening Friday and has a ribbon-cutting and grand opening event tentatively planned for Nov. 16.

Fairfield Inn & Suites is locally owned by Buffalo City Holdings LLC. It is managed by Fargo-based Paces Lodging Corporation. The groundbreaking for the project was conducted in January and while the hotel is complete, the separate but attached indoor pool building and party deck will be under construction until summer, according to management.

“This is the first hotel managed by Paces that was started from scratch,” said Fairfield Inn & Suites General Manager Sarah Ferry, adding that she cannot say what the construction costs totaled. “Paces also manages the Red Roof Inn and the MainStay Suites in Fargo and the Best Western in Bismarck.”

Fairfield Inn & Suites currently employs 27 full-time and part-time employees, said Josh Greeney, operations manager.

“There are more positions to be filled in every area and we are still accepting applications,” Greeney said.

Located just off Interstate 94, Ferry said the hotel will compete for travelers going east and west. Jamestown is positioned conveniently between larger metropolitan areas and a comfortable hotel with an innovative design and a lot of services and extras included in the rate will make the hotel very competitive, Ferry said.

“We expect to average around 25 walk-in guests per night,” she said.

The hotel will also cater to visitors attending community and sporting events, including at the University of Jamestown and Jamestown High School, she said. These families will want to have more fun while staying in town, and the hotel indoor swimming pool with water slides, a party deck and outdoor gas grill are all meant to enhance that experience, she said.

“There is also a big hot tub that fits 20 people and a gas barbecue and fire pit outside,” Greeney said.

A fitness center with free weights, mats and exercise machines is aimed at the adult traveler, as is the valet laundry. In the lobby is a stone hearth fireplace, sofas and a business center with computers and a printer.

Ferry said this is all about ensuring the guests have a “positive travel experience.”

The lobby has booths with outlets to plug in laptops and complimentary WiFi, she said. The décor with bright earthy colors is designed for the millennial generation, she said.

A 969-square-foot event space can be rented to seat 66 people, she said.

There are four styles of guest rooms that range in standard rates of $119 to $149 per night, with special rates through AAA, CAA, Marriott Rewards points, senior discounts for guests over age 62, government and military, corporate and with promotional codes.

All guest rooms have complimentary wireless high-speed Internet access and 47-inch LCD flat screen televisions with cable and premium movie channels, radio and iPod dock, chair, desk, mini-refrigerator and microwave and phone with voicemail and Paul Mitchell products with the bathroom amenities.

“All the beds are Beautyrest,” Ferry said. “There are no coils and it has memory foam and is very comfortable.”

All guest rooms are mobility accessible and five rooms have roll-in showers. Some rooms are hearing accessible with visual alarms and notification devices for door and phone.
