Crews search Red River in Fargo-Moorhead for possible drowning victim
MOORHEAD, Minn. — Rescue workers used boats to scour the Red River into the evening Monday, June 5, after learning that a man fell into the water and may not have resurfaced.
About 1:35 p.m., emergency dispatchers took a report of someone in the river near the footbridge that connects Fargo's Oak Grove Park to Moorhead.
Assistant Moorhead Fire Chief Jeff Wallin said authorities received conflicting reports from witnesses, some who said the man made it to shore and some who said he did not.
Crews searched the river and banks north of the foot bridge for several hours without finding anyone.
Moorhead Police Sgt. Clint Stephenson said if the man was not found Monday evening, crews will continue searching Tuesday morning, June 6. He said there are plans to have a trained dog help with the search.
