No injuries in Gavilon Grain accident

There were no injuries when a large belt being lifted up the side of an elevator at Gavilon Grain west of Jamestown broke loose and fell Tuesday afternoon, according to the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office.

At around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday Stutsman County Communications received a call to have an ambulance sent to Gavilon Grain, 3469 80th Ave. SE, on a report there had been an accident. Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser said workers were lifting a belt along the side of an elevator when the belt broke loose. Part of the belt landed on a worker’s leg. Kaiser said other workers were able to free the worker’s leg and there were no injuries.

The Jamestown Fire Department Ready Squad, the Jamestown Rural Fire Department, Jamestown Area Ambulance and North Dakota Highway Patrol all responded to the scene.
