Man injured in SUV-combine crash
A Fargo man was injured after the SUV he was driving struck a combine Saturday evening near Enderlin, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at 7:26 p.m. as Matthew Johnson, 27, was driving a 2001 Land Rover Discovery SUV eastbound on N.D. Highway 46 about 4 miles west of Enderlin, the patrol said. The SUV approached a 1983 John Deere 8820 Combine driven by Spencer Hajicek-Peterson, 15, Milnor, N.D., that was heading east on Highway
46. The combine slowed and drove further onto the shoulder to allow the SUV to pass.
The SUV struck the left rear of the combine, the patrol said. The combine entered the south ditch while the SUV entered the north ditch and rolled, the patrol said.
Johnson suffered serious injuries and was transported by Lisbon Ambulance Service to a hospital in Fargo. Hajicek-Peterson was not injured.
It was unknown if either driver was wearing a seat belt.
The patrol is investigating the crash.
