Farmers Union Insurance secures naming rights for Northwood arena
Farmers Union Insurance has secured the naming rights for a new indoor arena built in Northwood, N.D.
The arena will be called Farmers Union Insurance Arena for the next 10 years, according to information provided by Farmers Union Insurance. The insurance company reached an agreement with the Northwood Hockey Boosters to secure the naming rights for the new arena that hosts the Northwood youth hockey program.
The arena was built in 2014 through donations. Bryan Bender, president of Northwood Hockey Boosters, said the funds Farmers Union Insurance donated to get the naming rights will allow the boosters to continue to offer equipment at no cost to most of the hockey players in the program.
Farmers Union Insurance is a sponsor of the North Dakota High School Activities Association and the BEK Broadcasting Network, which televises high school athletic competitions throughout the state. The company sponsors many other sports organizations and activities. Last year Farmers Union Insurance purchased the naming rights to an expansion rink, the Farmers Union Insurance Center, attached to Scheels Arena in Fargo.
