Minn. man wanted for failing to report Fargo girlfriend's death back in jail

Joseph Griemann,

FARGO—A St. Cloud, Minn., man police sought for failing to report the death of his girlfriend was back in the Cass County Jail in Fargo as of Tuesday, Oct. 24.

Joseph Griemann, 26, was charged in Cass County District Court in 2016 with failure to report a death and willful disturbance of a body in connection with Casey Jo Schulte, 26, found dead Aug. 19, 2015, in the back of her garage at a Fargo apartment complex.

An autopsy concluded Schulte hanged herself.

An arrest warrant was issued in January for Griemann after he didn't show up for a change-of-plea hearing.

Cass County Jail records indicate Griemann was booked back into the jail on Tuesday. The records say he is being held on suspicion of possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia, in addition to charges relating to failure to report a death.

He was to make an appearance in Cass County District Court Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 25.

Cass County District Court records state Griemann was stopped by a Minnesota State Patrol trooper on Interstate 94 near Alexandria, Minn., on Aug. 19, 2015.

After being stopped, Griemann gave a number of statements to authorities about his connection to Schulte.

After first giving authorities a false name, Griemann eventually told them who he was and stated that earlier in the day he had discovered the body of his girlfriend in the garage of her apartment complex.

He said they had an argument the evening before and, during the dispute, Schulte threw her wallet off a balcony, court documents state.

Griemann told authorities he climbed down to retrieve the wallet and when he climbed back to the apartment he could not find Schulte.

He said he went to bed. The next morning he said found Schulte in the garage hanging by a rope, court documents state. Griemann told investigators he took Schulte's body down and placed it on a workbench before leaving.

After Griemann didn't show up for a court hearing in January, a judge revoked a bond Griemann posted and issued an arrest warrant stating if Griemann was arrested, his new conditions for release would be $10,000 cash only.
