UPDATE: Northeast ND motorcyclist hit by accused drunk driver identified

Paul Lilja

LARIMORE, N.D. -- A Larimore man was arrested Monday on suspicion of driving drunk following a crash that killed a  58-year-old motorcyclist in Grand Forks County.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol responded to a crash at 9:15 p.m. Monday a half-mile east of Larimore on County Road 4 where Paul Albert Lilja, 43, had been traveling east in a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado pickup.

Lilja turned left in front of a westbound 2017 Victory motorcycle and the two vehicles collided head-on, the Patrol said.

The motorcyclist, Allen Miller of Petersburg, was ejected when the bike went into a ditch and overturned. The Patrol said he died at the scene.

Lilja, who was not injured in the crash, was arrested and faces charges of driving while intoxicated, according to the Patrol. The crash remains under investigation.
