Driver not injured in crash

A Jamestown man escaped injury Wednesday after driving his car into a construction pit, according to Jamestown Police Department.

The crash occurred at 5:08 p.m. when Dale Quenzer, 62, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu north along the 1200 block of First Avenue North, and then attempted a left turn onto 13th Street Northwest when the car fell into a construction pit, according to the JPD report. Workers from Scherbenske Inc. were in the process of pulling equipment out of the hole and had temporarily removed the barricades, the report said.

Quenzer said he did not see the hole after maneuvering around various construction trailers on First Avenue, the report said. There was also no signal person to indicate the area of the road was closed, the report said.

Quenzer was able to exit the vehicle uninjured, the report said. He was wearing a seat belt, the report said.

No citations were issued, according to the report. There was minor damage to the undercarriage and the car was towed from the scene.
