Jamestown man arrested for showing gun in Walmart parking lot

The Jamestown Police Department arrested a Jamestown man just after 11 p.m. Tuesday for allegedly brandishing a gun in the parking lot of the Walmart Supercenter.

At around 10:50 p.m. Tuesday a Jamestown police officer responded to the business, to a report of road rage. Police said a man, later identified as D’Marco Smith, 24, of Jamestown, was driving a vehicle in the store’s parking lot and allegedly brandished a gun toward several people in another vehicle. One of the victims provided a description of the vehicle and its North Dakota license plate number to police.

Smith left the parking lot before police arrived. Police said at 11:02 p.m. an officer located the vehicle and Smith in southeast Jamestown. Police officers searched the vehicle, found a handgun and arrested Smith. The handgun was seized as evidence and Smith was taken to the Stutsman County Correctional Center.

Smith posted $500 cash bond and was released on Wednesday, according to the Stutsman County Correctional Center.

The incident remains under investigation.
