Jan. 1: 12:20 a.m., fire department responded to 500 Block of 17th Street Southwest, to a report of a grass fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire and investigated. Cause: fireworks. No injuries reported. Time out: 25 minutes.

Jan. 3: 8:55 a.m., ready squad responded to 600 20th St. SW, Valley Plains Equipment, to investigate a fire that occurred in a semi-truck and was extinguished by employees. Firefighters checked the semi-truck to make sure the fire was out. No injuries reported. Cause: undetermined. Time out: 25 minutes.

Jan. 3: 1:37 p.m., fire department responded to 12th Avenue and 2nd Place Northeast, to a report of a fire. Fire was out upon arrival of fire units; firefighters investigated. Cause: brake failure on vehicle. No injuries reported. Time out: 20 minutes.

Jan. 4: 8:06 a.m., fire department responded to the area of 11th Avenue and 1700 Block Northeast, to a report of a fire. Firefighters checked the area and found no fire. Cause: unknown. No injuries reported. Time out: 30 minutes.
