Theft from cars reported, officers seek public's help

The Jamestown Police Department is asking residents to take a look at their vehicles this morning, according to Lt. Justin Blinsky.

Officers apprehended Jared Fritz, 29, Jamestown, on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, criminal mischief, unlawful entry into a motor vehicle and theft from a motor vehicle.

At 9:50 p.m. Tuesday, officers were called to a location in southeast Jamestown where a citizen reported seeing someone going through his vehicle. The suspect fled the scene.

At 2:55 a.m. officers were dispatched to the 300 block of 4th Avenue Southeast on an unrelated call. Those officers saw a man fitting the description from the earlier call going through another vehicle, Blinsky said.

Blinsky said they suspect Fritz of going through up to five cars in southeast Jamestown.

“We ask residents to check their vehicles,” he said. “If their vehicle was entered, call 252-1000 and report it to dispatch.”
