Nurses group hosts UJ blood drive
Student Nurses Association hosted a blood drive with United Blood Services on Feb. 6 at Reiland Fine Arts Center which helped collect at total of 47 units of blood for patients in need.
A total of 52 individuals volunteered to donate blood, and 35 individuals donated at the blood drive. Ten people do anted Power Red Cells (2RBC) which collects two units of red blood cells while returning platelets, plasma and a saline solution back to the donor. Ten people volunteered for the first time, and one person donated plasma.
United Blood Services expressed its gratitude to Teree Rittenbach, who coordinated the drive, and the Student Nurses Association which sponsored the blood drive, as well as student leaders Megan Bidwell and Laura Walker.
