Parks and Rec to drop job category
The Jamestown Parks and Recreation Commission will likely eliminate one job category at its December meeting.
On Monday the commission heard an update from Doug Hogan, Jamestown Parks and Recreation Department director, on proposed changes to the department’s employee handbook.
Hogan said he was recommending eliminating the seasonal employee category as the handbook also has a temporary employee job category. He said the categories are very similar, in that they describe employees who works part time or full time for a limited amount of time. He said people who work at the ice rinks are temporary as they work when the ice rinks are open.
The commission is in the process of updating its employee handbook, a task it hasn’t done in at least five years, according to Hogan.
