County Commission approves support letter for UJ
The Stutsman County Commission unanimously approved a letter of support Tuesday for the University of Jamestown, which is applying for funding through the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Mark Klose, commission chairman, said he was contacted by Polly Peterson, UJ executive vice president, about providing a letter of support as the university is seeking some financing through the USDA. Klose said he did not know why UJ was seeking the USDA financing.
The letter of support states UJ is a major employer in rural North Dakota, that UJ was named one of the best regional colleges in the Midwest by the Princeton Review and that the university has a strong leadership team.
In other business, the County Commission unanimously approved a request from Commissioner Dennis Ova to keep county offices closed on Dec. 26.
