By Sun Staff

A Bismarck man was killed Friday in a three-vehicle accident three miles north of Steele, N.D., according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Fifty-nine-year-old Gene Russell Hogue was driving a 1999 Sterling semi south on Highway 3 from Tuttle, N.D., to Bismarck just after 4 p.m. Friday.

A 16-year-old Steele girl was driving a 1993 Toyota Camry north on Highway 3 from Steele. Her named was not immediately released.

The girl was going to make a left turn off of Highway 3, the patrol said.

The semi collided with the Camry when the Camry turned left in front of the semi.

The Camry then struck a northbound 1995 Nissan pickup, which was driven by Harold Erickson, Jr., 72, Carrington, N.D. The semi entered the west ditch where it overturned and came to rest upside down, the patrol said.

Hogue was pronounced dead at the scene.

Erickson and the Steele girl were transferred to Medcenter One, Bismarck.

Hogue was wearing a seat belt, the patrol said. The girl was not.

The semi and the Camry were totaled.

The crash remains under investigation, the patrol said.

More information was not immediately available Sunday.
