Bus driver strikes Hugo’s Wednesday

A bus driver was cited for care required after the bus ran into Hugo’s Family Marketplace at 1:05 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Jamestown Police Department.

Mark S. Ostgarden, 56, of Valley City, N.D., was driving a 2013 Ford bus north on First Avenue South, in the 300 block, when he lost control. The vehicle spun around, into the Hugo’s parking lot, and struck the front of the building at the door to the Hugo’s Wine and Spirits store, according to the police report.

The report noted that damage had been done to the Hugo’s building above the door and to the door itself, and gave a rough estimate of the damage cost of $5,000.

Video supplied by a manager at Hugo’s showed the vehicle spinning into the parking lot and hitting the building with the top left rear corner of the bus, the report said.

No injuries were reported.
