Man charged for alleged stabbing incident

A 42-year-old Jamestown man was charged with aggravated assault after allegedly stabbing a man outside the Wonder Bar Sports Bar Thursday evening, according to the Jamestown Police Department.

Eureka “Lefty” Mims was charged with aggravated assault after allegedly stabbing Marlin Decoteau Jr., 34, of Jamestown, twice after an altercation at the bar Thursday evening, according to Jamestown Police Capt. Gary Peterson.

Peterson said Decoteau was taken by Jamestown Area Ambulance to Jamestown Regional Medical Center, then was later airlifted to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo.

“He’s in intensive care,” Peterson said.

 Mims had his initial appearance in Southeast District Court Friday on the charge of aggravated assault. He is in Stutsman County Correctional Center on a $25,000 cash surety bond.

Aggravated Assault is a Class C felony with a maximum penalty of five years in prison and $5,000 fine.

Peterson said the incident remains under investigation.
