Great Dragon Chinese Restaurant will be closed while the family whoowns the business looks for a new location in Jamestown.

The buffet, dine-in and take-out restaurant at 509 10th St. SE closed its doors Thursday, according to Zhi Chen of Jamestown. Chen’s family owns Great Dragon, and he has opened a Chinese buffet restaurant in Valley City.

Chen said the family had a disagreement with the property owner over the lease. Both sides could not come to an agreement to renew the lease, forcing Chen and his family to close the business and move everything out.

“We haven’t found a new location as yet. It (losing the lease) happened so fast,” Chen said.

Great Dragon had been at 509 10th St. SE for 10 years, according to Chen.

Chen said they are looking for a larger location, somewhere at least 4,000 square feet.

According to Stutsman County tax records, the building and property at 509 10th St. SE is owned by Ming Ta Hsu of San Gabriel, Calif. Attempts to contact Hsu were unsuccessful Friday afternoon.

Chen said the family is looking forward to reopening Great Dragon as soon as possible in Jamestown.
