Texting, possible DUI in rollover-update

Jana Leean

A Jamestown woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol following a rollover crash early Saturday, according to Lt. Justin Blinsky with the Jamestown Police Department.

At approximately 1:35 a.m., Jana Leean, 20, called 911 to report that she had struck a parked vehicle while driving her 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer and rolled, according to Stutsman County Communications Center. Jamestown Police Department responded to the scene in the 1400 block of 16th Street Southwest.

Leean, who had been traveling east on 16th Street Southwest, admitted to placing a cellphone on the passenger seat and was attempting to view a text message, Blinsky said. By the time she turned her attention back to the road she struck a parked 2008 Honda Ridgeline, and the force of impact sent that vehicle into a parked 2005 Jeep Liberty.

Leean, who was not injured, was cited for distracted driving and placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, Blinsky said. Additional charges are pending in the crash which is still under investigation, he said.
