Man sentenced for domestic assault
BISMARCK (AP) — A North Dakota man will serve more than three years in prison for beating up a woman on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation that straddles the South Dakota border.
A federal judge in Bismarck sentenced 42-year-old Samuel Bryce Silk Jr., of Cannonball, Monday to 43 months in prison.
He pleaded guilty in September to domestic assault by a habitual offender. Silk has at least two prior domestic violence convictions in tribal court.
Federal prosecutors said Silk assaulted a woman in January. She suffered a broken jaw and extensive bruising to her leg.
